Reflection
This standard calls for the creation of authentic digital learning experiences coupled with appropriate and effective assessments. Today’s students deserve relevant learning experiences that will prepare them for a 21st century career. Standard II acknowledges the fact that there are various learning styles present in the classroom today. It is the teacher’s responsibility to appeal to all of these diverse learning styles through technology. In addition to developing technology-enriched learning environments, the teacher also needs to be aware of how to appropriately assess learning. Assessment is a key component of the success of technology implementation so that the teacher is well-informed of its efficacy.
Artifact 1: I used Google Sites to create an online course entitled Blogging for Beginners. This course was designed to present information on the basics of blogging all while providing formative and summative assessments. Each lesson is followed by a short quiz and there is final assessment when all lessons have been completed. The student is also assigned a culminating project to demonstrate the knowledge gained from the course. In addition to the assessments, this Google Sites course meets Standard II because it addresses multiple learning styles by presenting information in various digital formats, such as video, text, and slide presentation.
Artifact 2: EasyTestMaker is a tool that every teacher needs to know about. With EasyTestMaker assessments are easy to create because it provides formatting for questions. This tool can create multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, matching, short answer, and true or false questions. It is important to have the option to vary the assessment items because some students may perform better on open-ended questions as opposed to close-ended questions. EasyTestMaker would be a great tool for students to use to create their own tests based on their research. EasyTestMaker would serve the students well because they have little experience in developing tests and this program could assist them in that process. I created an assessment in EasyTestMaker that included several different question types to evaluate student performance after completing various tasks such as listening to a podcast, watching a video, and reading. EasyTestMaker can help the teacher to provide accurate and effective assessments as called for in Standard II.
Artifact 3: Rubistar is an online rubric creator. Rubrics are critical to project or presentation assessments. Without rubrics a student will lack the guidelines to follow when completing an assignment. With Rubistar I was able to create a detailed rubric in a very short amount of time to be used in assessing a webquest. Through Rubistar the teacher can develop rubrics that allow the students to assess their own progress as well. Rubistar fulfills Standard II by giving teachers the tools needed to develop accurate assessments.

Future learning goals
The tools that I chose that best represent this standard for me Google Sites, EasyTestMaker, and Rubistar are three tools that I know I will make use of in the near future. Creating valid assessments is key to teaching and learning in order to accurately test students' knowledge and skills. By using Google Sites to create a course students will learn through assessment because they cannot advance until they have proven mastery. I will be able to use EasyTestMaker to create assessments that accurately gauge skill and knowledge development by providing the student with multiple types of questions to appeal to their particular learning style. In order to equitably assess students, Rubistar will guide me in creating fair assessment tools with ease and accuracy.
